• To show respect, always bow/greet the Professor or instructor leading the class when you enter the mat.

  • Try to be on time for class. If you are late for class, wait for the Instructor before you enter onto the mat.

  • No shoes, food, drink or illness on the mat!

  • Pick up what you bring in to the Academy.

  • No bare feet in the restrooms (or of the mat) as this carries bacteria onto the mat. Please bring sandals and or wipes so that only clean feet go on the mat.

  • We encourage you to wear a Rash Guard to help absorb sweat and ensure a more comfortable roll for you and your rolling partners. Spats or Shorts are recommended under Gi pants.

  • Wash your Kimono/GI after every session.  We suggest washing as quickly as possible so bacteria does not breed...the smell is almost impossible to get out!  Vinegar and Bleach work great.

  • Keep fingernails and toenails trimmed so you do not injure your team mates.

  • Remove all jewelry (earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces).

  • If you want to train at another school, let your instructor know to give respect to your first team and instructor.

  • When the instructor is demonstrating the techniques, talking should be kept to a minimum level and should relate to the class subject.

  • If a higher belt asks you to roll never refuse unless you are incapable to roll by injury or sickness.

  • Please give space to the higher ranking belts on the mats, you can re-start your roll in a different spot.

  • If you have ring worm, staph or another communicable health condition, please stay off the mat until you have finished medication/treatment or have an official Doctors note.

  • We are on the same team and do not brag about "who tapped who" or who "won". There is no winning or losing, only learning.

  • We treat our fellow students with respect and never speak negatively about or to them.  Bullying will not be tolerated.  If you have a concern, please address this with the Instructor.

  • While in the school, on or off the mat, please keep volume to a minimum so that our students may focus on their training. We ask that parents leave the instruction to the professionals and do not cross talk during class.
