The objective in this class is to teach the children self-defense movements, through playing, rolling, and moving out from under danger.
We teach them techniques on how to move, recover from an attack if they fall, and how to retreat to safety. Jiu-Jitsu helps to build confidence and teaches to be prepared when someone puts his/her hands on them.
They train this way to learn how to remain calm and in control rather than panic. The children participate in games that were designed to teach them how to focus on a single objective.
The object of this class is to give our older kids confidence and security so they are comfortable under stress and in intense situations. Not only during confrontational situations like being grabbed, being thrown on the ground, or being held under and the opponent but in their daily life, walking into a new class for the first time.
With the lessons of Jiu-Jitsu, they will have an inner friend, a set of tools they can call on. Whether in play or attack, we are teaching self-defense, and they will learn how to remain calm during these scenarios and how to make better decisions.
Competition Team is invite-only. Your level of technique, dedication to the art, and attitude overall play a role. We hold competition classes or the student who wants to push their training to a different level. It is a great way to challenge yourself and apply your knowledge.
When a student competes under the Machado name, you represent our Academy, instruction, and lineage.
It is a great honor for both the students and our Academy. If you are interested in competing please contact us or speak with Professors Todd, Joseph, or Marcus.
Open to students of virtually all levels, this is where you will be introduced to sparring and active training. We cover a variety of essential techniques that are reviewed and executed with drilling partners and then we move into free training "rolling" where students can put their skills to use with a training partner. A Gi is required for this class. We can provide a loaner Gi if needed.
No-Gi allows Jiu-Jitsu practitioners to practice without a Gi. Jiu-Jitsu techniques are reviewed and executed with drilling partners and then we move into free training "rolling" where students can put their skills to use with a training partner. Spats and a Rash Guard should be worn, if you have any questions about requirements, please contact us.
